About the website

This website is my Capstone Project, the final assignment for my Master of Arts degree for the Professional & Digital Media Writing program at East Stroudsburg University, and I am so excited to be able to share it with you!

I am a fandom geek and a research nerd who loves to travel and write about my adventures, and having the opportunity to create a website filled with researched articles and my own photos accompanied by screenshots from some of my favorite fandom television shows and movies is a true labor of love.

The idea evolved from a paper magazine to a website, and from a planned trip in 2020 to a memoir of sorts from a trip taken in 2015 due to the pandemic and travel restrictions.

The website is set up in sections:

2015 London Adventures: Four long read articles (13-19 minute reads) that chronicle the four days and three nights I spent exploring London with my friend Ann who had come up with a mystery itinerary based on her question before I arrived “What fandoms are you into?” (The answer was Doctor Who, James Bond, BBC’s Sherlock, and Paddington.)

Spotlight Locations: Shorter, but more in-depth articles about a specific location and its history, as well as how the scene fits into the overall fandom and how I felt when I visited. I also included how to visit virtually.

Virtual Visits: Three locations that I had planned to visit but could not, and so I virtually travelled there instead and wrote about the location history and how it fits into the fandom, as well as how to virtually visit.

Gallery: Pictures that didn’t fit into the articles from my time wandering London, but I wanted to share.

Sources: A long list of the sources I used when researching the locations and their histories, as well as the books and media used.

Reflection Paper: This paper is part of the project itself, the progression from an idea to reality, how my classes informed and enhanced the project, and what I learned along the way.

London 2015 !!

My name is Leanne, and I love to write. And take pictures. And travel. And get my geek on whenever possible. I also love chasing down information to answer any question that comes up - researching is my jam.

I enjoy learning new languages, and am currently trying to untangle Mandarin Chinese. Last year I tackled Welsh - I recommend both if you love a challenge.

I never thought that I would have the opportunity to go back to school for my Master's, but here I am creating the final project before graduation. What a rush!

"I haven't been everywhere,

but it's on my list".
